It is Planned to Show Dairy Products Containing Milk Fat Substitutes or Other Additives on Separate Shelves
1 / 5

On January 12, the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs convened the regular sitting. Before beginning the legislative work, the deputies observed a one-minute of silence to honour the memory of the serviceman fallen as a result of the aggression of the Azerbaijani armed forces on January 11.

The legislative initiative on Making Addenda to the RA Law on Trade and Services and on Making Addenda to the RA Code on Administrative Offenses authored by the Government was debated in the first reading. It is proposed to rewrite the Article 4 of the Law on Trade and Services, according to which, in the objects of trade, the dairy products should be shown on separate shelves so that it will be clearly seen which dairy product is made from natural raw materials, which is from vegetable oil or from other content – milk fat substitutes or other additives. The words “contains a milk fat substitute” should be noted in the packaging of such dairy products. The Committee members proposed to define which regulation should refer to the shops with an area of more than 200 square meters, taking into account the limited opportunities of small shops and the difficulties in controlling them. The author of the initiative accepted the proposal.

The Committee endorsed the package. It will be included in the draft agenda of the NA regular session.

After the complete adoption, the law will enter into force on the thirtieth day following its official publication.
