On October 6, the delegation led by the RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Viacheslav Volodin.

Welcoming the RA NA Speaker, Viacheslav Volodin highly appreciated the fact that the first visit as the RA NA Speaker to the Russian Federation was made. He affirmed the readiness of the deputies of the new convocation of the RF State Duma to continue the close cooperation with the Armenian partners.

The RA NA Speaker congratulated the Speaker of the RF State Duma and the Russian people on the successful holding of the elections of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly.

Alen Simonyan assured the interest of the National Assembly of Armenia to contribute to the further deepening of the Armenian-Russian allied cooperation through sincere constructive dialogue and cooperation. He has considered the Armenian-Russian parliamentary cooperation one of the most important links in bilateral relations, noting that the partnership relations between parliaments of the two countries steadily develop and have clear priorities. Clear agreements were reached between the sides in a number of directions of cooperation, in particular, within the framework of international parliamentary organizations.

Alen Simonyan informed that the works to form delegations of the National Assembly of Armenia in the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and other international inter-parliamentary organizations were finished.

The sides referred to the issues related to the security in the region and the establishment of long-lasting peace. The partners touched upon the holding of joint events on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the RA and the RF, as well as on the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance
