At October 5 extraordinary sitting, moderated by Andranik Kocharyan, the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security debated the issue of the election of the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee. The Armenia Faction nominated Artur Ghazinyan’s candidacy. The deputies of parliamentary majority voted against his candidacy for the fifth time. The deputy of the Armenia Faction Gegham Nazaryan expressed his opinion about the candidate. Artur Ghazinyan, noting that he considered his presence during the debate of the issue meaningless, left the session hall with his colleagues.

The members of the Civil Contract Faction unanimously voted against Artur Ghazinyan’s candidacy. The Chair of the Standing Committee has stated that the issue will be resolved by law in the near feature.

According to the D’Hondt method, the opposition faction should nominate a new or the same candidate within 5 days.
