Alen Simonyan has informed his colleague that he greatly highlights the close cooperation of the legislative bodies and soon the Armenian-Georgian Friendship Group will be formed in parliament, which will boost the further effective cooperation.

Speaking about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, Alen Simonyan thanked Kakha Kuchava for the efforts made by Georgia in this process. The Georgian colleague Kakha Kuchava again congratulated Alen Simonyan for being elected NA Speaker, reminding him that he is also newly-elect Speaker of Parliament, considering it a good opportunity of giving new impetus to the bilateral cooperation. The Speaker of Parliament of Georgia touched upon with satisfaction the activities of the Friendship Groups in two parliaments during the previous convocation and expressed conviction for more effective partnership.

An agreement was reached to activate the works of the profile committees. At the meeting the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia expressed readiness in developing joint programmes for cooperation with his Armenian colleague. During the meeting both sides also underlined the necessity of the implementation of a number of initiatives directed to the regional security and stability.

Concluding the discussion, the RA NA Speaker mentioned about the construction of the Friendship Bridge of strategic importance, expressing conviction that it would promote at best the deepening of collaboration, the trade turnover, the development of the infrastructure and tourism between the neighbouring states. He noted that this project being financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Governments of Armenia and Georgia could become one of the symbols of the Armenian-Georgian centuries-old friendship.
