At August 6 sitting, the National Assembly debated the NA draft decision on creating Standing Committees of the National Assembly of the RA eighth convocation authored by With Honor and Armenia Factions. It is envisaged by the draft decision to create 12 Standing Committees.
The authors proposed to create a Standing Committee on Artsakh, and its activities will be focused on the support (financial, political, military, diplomatic, humanitarian, social etc.) provided by the RA to Artsakh, the negotiation process of the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the military, political, diplomatic, financial and economic ties with Artsakh, the regional security, the cooperation with the National Assembly of Artsakh, the inter-parliamentary relations, the work of parliamentary friendship groups, the coordination of the laws regulating those spheres and the organization of the work.
According to the substantiation, as a consequence of the large-scale military aggression of Azerbaijan and Turkey against the Republic of Artsakh in 2020, the Republics of Armenia and Artsakh have suffered heavy human and moral losses and have incurred material losses, because of which two Armenian states are in deep crisis and the overcoming of which is of exceptional vital importance. As a consequence of the anti-Armenian and bellicose policy of Azerbaijan and Turkey, it is continued 8 months after the war. A proper international assessment should be given to the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression, because the only international organization that has registered the need to internationally investigate the circumstances of this aggression is the European Parliament.
“The National Assembly cannot appear in the margin on the issue of Artsakh,” the Secretary of With Honor Faction Hayk Mamijanyan underlined.
