The amendments are aimed at improving the cooperation between the CIS States in the fight against the illicit trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances and components. The definitions of the used concepts are filled in the agreement, more detailed regulatory cooperation between the CIS member states in the fight against the illicit trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances and components and the provisions directed to the improvement of information exchange between the states are designed.

Furthermore, legal bases are envisaged as a result of the amendments which referred to creating joint operative investigation groups aimed at taking operative-intelligence measures and other ones, as well as expanding the scope of the operative-intelligence measures.

“The ratification of the protocol is expedient in terms of foreign policy of Armenia,” Fidanyan concluded.
