At April 30 sitting, the NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs debated in the first reading the draft law authored by the NA deputies of My Step Faction Gevorg Papoyan and Heriknaz Tigranyan on Amending the Law on Temporary Disability and Maternity Benefits. It is proposed to improve the conditions of calculating temporary disability benefits.
The authors, in particular, propose to pay benefit to the hired worker for the 1st day of temporary disability, too: according to the functioning regulations, the benefit is paid – starting from the 2nd day of temporary disability.
The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Davit Khachatryan, welcoming the initiative, noted that the Government would also present such initiative. Khachatryan stated that there were abuses before: a person instead of baksheesh received a disability certificate from a precinct doctor and was not present at work: “Today, the risks were mitigated.” It was mentioned that the proposals presented by the Government were accepted from the authors.
The co-author of the draft law Heriknaz Tigranyan noted that the proposals of the Government clarified the formula of calculating benefit more.
The Chair of the Committee Narek Zeynalyan positively assessed the amendment implemented for the hired worker. He informed that the draft law was also debated in a working order.
On the basis of the suggestions of the Government, the revised bill was approved by the committee.
The legislative package on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Rights of Persons with Disabilities and a number of enclosed laws co-authored by the RA Government and the deputies Narek Zeynalyan, Heriknaz Tigranyan, Lusine Badalyan, Arpine Davoyan, Hrachya Hakobyan, Arsen Mikhaylov, Koryun Mkrtchyan and Vanik Ohanyan was debated in the second reading and endorsed.
The package of draft laws authored by the NA deputy Tigran Urikhanyan on Making Addendum to the Law on Remuneration of Persons Holding State Positions and State Service Positions and Making Addendum to the Law on Guarantees for Activity of RA National Assembly deputies was not endorsed.
