MPs’ Questions to Key Rapporteur
1 / 2

At the NA extraordinary sitting convened on April 28, the package of draft laws on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Criminal Code and the enclosed ones authored by the NA deputy of My Step Faction Vahagn Hovakimyan was debated.

The deputies asked questions to the key rapporteur.

The NA deputy Taguhi Tovmasyan was interested in the statistical data referred to the obstacles and violations of the electoral processes. The key rapporteur Vahagn Hovakimyan has noted that the statistics is included in the report of the Prosecutor General’s Office after the elections.

Highlighting the tendency to make amendments, the NA deputy Hovhannes Igityan has stressed that the state structures should not look for the violations and obstacles of the election, but they should prevent them. The author has underlined that the aim of the adoption of the provisions is the prevention. He is hopeful that such elections will be in future that this norm proposed by the legislation will not be necessary.

The question by the NA deputy Ani Samsonyan has referred to the amendment by which it is proposed to criminalize the publication of fake information related to a faction or a candidate taking part in the elections. Vahagn Hovakimyan mentioned that it was decided to remove the provision from the draft law for avoiding the ambiguous application after a long debate.
