Disagreements Should Be Resolved by Peaceful Means: Ambassador of China Fan Yong
1 / 4

On February 24, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Mikayel Melkumyan met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Armenia Fan Yong.

Melkumyan congratulated the Ambassador on assuming the post. He presented the post-war situation, highlighted the implementation of the agreements reserved by the tripartite statement signed on November 9 – the exchange of prisoners of war and other captive persons according to the principle all-for-all.

Ambassador Fan Yong highlighted the signing of tripartite statement and expressed hope that the disagreements would be solved by peaceful means and dialogue.

The Committee Chair talked about the necessity of expanding the Armenian-Chinese cooperation in a number of spheres. It was noted that despite the pandemic unfavourable situation, the trade turnover with China had increased: during the year 2020 it was about 1bln USD.

Touching upon the cooperation between the parliaments, the interlocutors agreed that after the end of pandemic it would be necessary to activate the contacts between the namesake committees and Friendship Groups.
