At July 8 extraordinary sitting, the RA NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs debated and endorsed the draft law on Making Amendment and Addenda to the Law on Currency Regulation and Currency Control authored by the RA NA deputies Artak Manukyan and Varazdat Karapetyan.

Recommendation were not presented after the first reading. According to the Deputy Chairman of the RA Central Bank (CC) Nerses Yeritsyan, the Government was for completely passing the legislative initiative. The MPs expressed their viewpoints on the draft law.

The Committee members debated the item on the vacant post of the RA CC Council member for Hovhannes Khachatryan’s candidacy presented by My Step Faction and proposing the candidate in that post to the National Assembly.

The RA NA deputy Artak Manukyan presented the candidate’s biographical data and underlined his professional skills and working experience of many years.

Hovhannes Khachatryan touched upon the functions of the Central Bank and emphasized their continuous development. According to her, the RA CC is one of the best banks in the series of banks of developing countries.

The MPs’ questions directed to the speaker related to the securities and insurance markets, the inflation, providing distancing service, the banking system as a consequence of pandemic and other problems.

Concluding his speech the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee urged his colleagues to vote for the draft law. The item was unanimously endorsed.
