On February 28, at the invitation of the Head of Kyrgyzstan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group of Zhogorku Kenesh of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Zhanarbek Akayev the delegation led by the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, the Head of Armenia-Kyrgyzstan Friendship Group Mikayel Melkumyan, and the members, the RA NA deputies Aleksey Sandikov, Sarik Minasyan and Aram Khachatryan was in Bishkek.

The Deputy Speaker of Zhogorku Kenesh of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Aida Kasymalieva received the Armenian MPs.

Welcoming the Armenian Delegation, the Deputy Speaker of Zhogorku Kenesh Aida Kasymalieva underlined that the meetings of the Armenian Delegation would become a beginning for new projects and would give new quality to the Armenian-Kyrgyz inter-parliamentary relations. Informing the delegation members that they emphasize the reforms in the social, gender and health care spheres, she has also noted that 30% quota is designed for women in the newly formed composition of Zhogorku Kenesh  in 2020.

Mikayel Melkumyan has thanked the Deputy Speaker for the warm reception and has noted that the visit is the first in the format of the Friendship Groups. In his word he proposed to thoroughly study all the ways of cooperation, particularly in the health, social and humanitarian spheres. Mikayel Melkumyan has highlighted the expansion of cooperation in the information technologies (IT), scientific, tourism, agricultural, health and humanitarian spheres, adding that in Armenia the IT centres successfully function. Mikayel Melkumyan has noted that the reforms in different spheres successfully go on in Armenia after the Velvet Revolution in 2018, and the problems of agriculture are at the centre of attention of the state.

The possible perspectives of the development of cooperation in the sphere of jewelry were touched upon.

In the context of economic cooperation of the two countries the Head of the delegation proposed to organize business forums, during which it would be possible to discuss the perspectives of cooperation in the economic sphere. The cooperation of delegations on the international parliamentary platforms was stressed.

The Member of Kyrgyzstan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group of Zhogorku Kenesh Sali Karashev has attached importance to the fact that there are very common spheres of expanding the cooperation in two countries. According to him, the experience of Armenia in the mining industry is succeeded. He also considered possible the cooperation in the sphere of tourism. Mikayel Melkumyan noted with satisfaction that in the near future the RA National Assembly would ratify the agreement on excluding the double taxation between Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, which also would promote the development of the two countries’ economies.

Regarding the most important problems of Armenia’s foreign policy the Head of the Friendship Group Mikayel Melkumyan highlighted the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict exclusively through peaceful means, underscored the necessity of the Armenian Genocide recognition by the international community.

The Deputy Speaker of Zhogorku Kenesh of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Aida Kasymalieva has underlined that the Kyrgyz side is also only for the peaceful settlement of the conflicts.

On the same day the delegation led by Mikayel Melkumyan met with the representatives of the Armenian community residing in Kyrgyzstan and got acquainted with the compatriots’ activities.

On February 29, during the visit to Bishkek the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Erkin Asrandiyev received the Armenian delegation. At the meeting the approaches of the two member states to implement the cooperation more effective and dynamic in the EEU framework was discussed. The opportunities of acting with united approaches connected with providing customs privileges on some types of goods were underlined.
