On June 29 Artur Baghdasaryan, RA NA President, received Ken Benson, President Habitat Jimmy Carter Work Project and Vicken Aykazian, the delegate of the Armenian Apostolic Church, General Director of the ecumenical movement office.

During the meeting the issues related to Habitat construction projects in Armenia were discussed. Artur Baghdasaryan, RA NA President, noted that the National Assembly joined the construction project of Jimmy Carter, USA former President, within the framework of which it has already participated in the construction of Ghazaryans’ house in Nor Kharberd. Taking into account, the humanitarian mission of the project and the significance of the solution of the housing problem in Armenia, Artur Baghdasaryan noted that the National Assembly intends to continue the project, including the construction of already 100 houses at the second stage in the regions of Armenia, to which the MPs expressed their to participate.

Ken Benson, President of Habitat Jimmy Carter Work Project, told the NA President about the Habitat construction works in Michigan state in June, in which Garegin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians and Jimmy Carter, USA former President participated. A preliminary agreement was reached that Mr. Carter will arrive in Armenia for participating in Habitata construction projects. Mr. Benson expressed readiness to promote the construction of the envisaged 100 houses in the regions of Armenia, involving the American Habitat forces too. As Vicken Aykazian, the delegate of the Armenian Apostolic Church, General Director of the ecumenical movement office, assured the Armenians living in USA will also participate in the construction.
