Ararat Mirzoyan Meets with OSCE/ODIHR Director Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir

On November 26, the President of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan received the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir.

Welcoming the guest, who arrived in Armenia to participate in the International Conference launched in the RA National Assembly Session Hall on the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of the Human Rights Defender, Ararat Mirzoyan has noted that Armenia highly appreciates the activity of all OSCE institutes aimed at the resolution of security issues in our large region, as well as the development of democratic institutes and the protection of human rights. The President of the National Assembly also thanked them for the support of all the OSCE institutes for democratic reforms in Armenia and has underlined that our country is especially proud of the parliamentary elections held last year and the high benchmark set by us during those elections.

“Of course, we understand very well that in reality this is a common phenomenon for the civilized world, a precondition on which democratic society is built, but for Armenia it was an unprecedented phenomenon, and now our political power should make every effort to make this achievement, as well as all our democratic reforms, be irreversible, "Ararat Mirzoyan said.

Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir has noted that she is happy to take part in this event and, that it is a very positive experience for her to see the ongoing reforms in Armenia. The Director of the OSCE/ODIHR Office has underscored that they are ready to support Armenia in all directions. They also touched upon the reforms in the Electoral Code, the law on political parties, the reforms to be implemented in the judicial sphere.
