On August 26, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia received the Speaker of the Riksdag of the Swedish Kingdom Andreas Norlén, being in Armenia at his invitation.
Welcoming his colleague, Ararat Mirzoyan has noted that the impressions from the official visit to Sweden in June are still fresh, and the meetings there have opened a new page in the Armenian-Swedish bilateral relations. The Speaker of the Armenian Parliament has added that it is a great honour to receive the delegation led by his Swedish colleague in Armenia.
Thanking his counterpart for the warm reception Andreas Norlén has underlined that the Swedish side very highly assesses the relations with Armenia. He has opined that the relations between the two countries have entered a quick development phase which has a rather ambitious agenda.
According to the NA President, the sincere interest that shows Sweden towards democratic processes going on in Armenia after the velvet revolution is obvious, about which speak the mutual visits at high level and the tangible growth of financial support being allocated to Armenia. Ararat Mirzoyan has stated that the Armenian side has a great wish to cooperate in the spheres of information technologies, the energy restoring, the management for water and forest resources, the management of mining wastes and in other spheres of bilateral interest.
In the opinion of the Head of Swedish Parliament, the visit to Armenia is symbolic especially in the period, when Sweden celebrates the centenary of its democracy. He has added that with such representatives that include all Deputy Speaker and Heads of political groups of Riksdag, the Parliament of Sweden visits only once in four years. He has again reaffirmed the readiness of the Swedish side to support the ongoing democratic changes in Armenia and the procedure of the reforms aimed at sustainable free market.
