Speech by RA NA Vice President Vahe Enfiajyan at 52nd Meeting of PABSEC on Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee in Georgia
1 / 2

Dear colleagues,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Let me welcome all the participants and guests in this hall on behalf of PABSEC on Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee, express my confidence that today’s work will promote the development and strengthening of cooperation in our region. On behalf of the Committee members I especially thank the Parliament of Georgia, its leadership and employees for the warm hospitality and organizing this wonderful event in Batumi. At today’s Meeting of the Committee a very important theme for the Black Sea Region: “Green economy-blue growth.” The Committee will debate the draft report on this issue prepared by the member of the Romanian delegation George-Gabriel Visan, as well as the draft recommendation and will present them for debate at the Spring Session of the Supreme Assembly to be held in Baku.

Dear colleagues,

during the last decade the “Green” economy concept has become a strategic priority for numerous governments and inter-governmental organizations. “The Green” economic policy helps the countries to receive economic and social profits (for example: through the investment of clear energy technologies investment and the improvement of the energy services accessibility, the rise of the efficiency of the sue of resources by the help of making investments in clean production and the provision of trade security at the price of more stable agricultural practices and entering into developing markets).

The progress of efficient use of natural resources and the diversification of energy sources decrease the import expenses, provide the energy security and restrict the impact on the environment. Every country should assess its financing sources and revise the possibility of stable economic growth optimization.

To turn into Green economy the international environmental and economic organizations propose wide instruments, as the targeted state support for the researches and development connected with the creation of ecologically clean technologies, boosting of the use of energy renewable sources and increase of state investments in the sphere of industry, as well as strengthening of state purchase policy encourages the production of ecological goods.

PABSEC always highlighted the problem of Green economy and touched upon this theme in its reports and recommendations, particularly on the initiatives of the development of green energy in the Black Sea Region.
