On February 13, Arman Yeghoyan, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Ruben Rubinyan from the RA NA My Step Faction, Nora Arustamyan from the Prosperous Armenia Faction and Edmon Marukyan and Karen Simonyan from the Bright Armenia Faction met with the Special Ambassadors of the European Union (EU) Member Countries on Eastern Partnership.(EaP).
Thomas Buchsbaum, Special Envoy on EaP, Federal Ministry for Europe Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria has noted that the goal of their visit is to get acquainted with the agenda of the ongoing reform process in Armenia. He has welcomed the ongoing democratic reform process, noting that they are ready to support their implementation.
The sides discussed the situation created after the power shift in our country, the vision of the economic revolution, the challenges of democratic development, the involvement of civil society in the reform process, the anti-corruption strategy and the issues concerning the RA-EU cooperation.
The Armenian parliamentarians have assured that the Partnership with the European Union is of significant importance for Armenia. In the development of the RA-EU relations and effective implementation of the reforms the quick ratification of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by the member countries was underlined. Within the framework of the Agreement the MPs especially highlighted the progress in the EU entry visa facilitation process. In the favourable use of the document the necessity of the experts’ advice and financial support was underscored.
The sides touched upon the peaceful settlement of the NK conflict, the RA integration directions, the transitional justice, the values laid on the basis of the Eastern Partnership and a number of other issues.
