On April 5 Herman De Croo, President of the Chambers of Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium, who was on an official visit to Armenia, visited the regional European Academy in Caucasus and met the students and the lecturers’ staff of the Academy and French University. Mr. Herman De Croo said that it’s important for his country to have good relations with all countries, and this visit to Armenia will enable them to establish serious bases of cooperation in a number of fields. Mr. Herman De Croo noted that the Chambers of the Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium adopted the policy of parliamentary diplomacy. President of the Chambers of Representatives welcomed that Armenia was seeking to occupy a leading position in the region, especially in the sphere of education.
Answering to one of the student’s question, if it was possible to organize training of the Armenian students in the higher educational institutions of Belgium, Mr. Herman De Croo said that it’s absolutely possible; moreover, that Armenia joined the Bologna process, which supposes a unified European educational field. “We decided to develop the New Neighbourhood programme,” added the President of the Chambers of Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium.
One of the students was interested in Herman De Croo’s position on Universal European Constitution. “Several heads from 27 countries consider that it is so serious document that they shall know every citizen’s viewpoint, therefore, the process requires long period. Whatever the approaches shall be, the document is fundamental and very important, said Mr. Herman De Croo.
At the end, President of the Chambers of Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium informed that this evening he will leave for Georgia, then – to Azerbaijan, trying to have full picture on the region.
