Artashes Geghamyan

Born on December 2, 1949 in Yerevan.

1971 - Graduated from the faculty of electro-techniques of K. Marx Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. Engineer - electro technician.

1988 - 1990 - Attended courses at the Academy of Social Sciences adjunct to the Central Committee of the USSR (Moscow). Reserve Captain.

1971 - 1978 - Discharged secretary of the YCL organization at the faculty of electro-techniques of K. Marx Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. Commander of the student construction section of Armenia in the Karelian Autonomous Republic. Instructor at the YCL organization. First secretary of the YCL organization of the K. Marx Polytechnic Institute. Head of the division of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia.

1979 - 1987 - Instructor at apparatus of the Communist Party of the Central Committee of Armenia, Head of the sector, assistant to the first secretary of the Central Committee, First Deputy to the Head of the division for party-organization works.

1987 - 1989 - First Secretary of the Yerevan Mashtots District CPA Committee.

1989 - 1990 - Mayor of Yerevan.

1991 - 1995 - Member of the observer group of “Andrnavtgazshin” JSC. Founder, Director of “Prometheus” Armenian Universal Exchange, “21st Century” LLC.

1997 - Founder and Head of the “National Unity” faction.

1998, 2003 and 2008 - Candidate for the Presidential elections of the Republic of Armenia.

1995 - 1999 - Deputy of the National Assembly (electoral district # 7). Member of the Standing Committee on Financial - Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly. Not included in factions and deputy group. Head of the “National Unity” party.

1999 - 2003 - Deputy of the National Assembly (proportional electoral system, “Law and Unity” alliance). Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly. Head of the “Law and Unity” faction.

2003 - 2007 - Member of the National Assembly (proportional electoral system, NU faction). Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, member of the RA NA delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, member of the International Parliamentary Organization, “Parliamentarians for Global Actions.” Head of the “National Unity” faction.

2012 - 2017 - Elected Member of the National Assembly from the proportional electoral system from the Republican Party of Armenia. Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly. Head of the RA NA delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Member of the “Republican” (RPA) faction.

April 2, 2017 - Elected Member of the National Assembly by the RPA national electoral list.

Author of 16 books and numerous scientific analytical articles.

Married, with two children.
