Youth Parliament Away Sitting in Gyumri

On June 25 the third sitting of the Youth Parliament was convened in Gyumri. Before opening the sitting Hranush Hakobyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth, Ruben Hovsepyan, the Committee Vice Chairman, and NA MP Sukias Avetisyan met young people representing various organizations of the Shirak marz, replied to their questions. Activities of the Youth Parliament were inspiring for the young of the marz: they proposed to delegate their representatives to the Youth Parliament. Hailing their initiative Mrs. Hakobyan proposed first to create a similar institution in Shirak marz and later send their delegates to the Youth Parliament.

Mher Navoyan, the next chairman by seniority, presented the agenda of the sitting.

The first issue on the agenda related to RA Law “On Rescue Service and Rescuer’s Status.” Aram Tananyan, head of the Department for Emergency Situations adjunct to the RA Government, crediting the newly passed law, drew attention to the administration of the rescue service, articles detailing on the rescuer’s status which specify and raise the efficiency of the rescue service, citizens’ protection during emergencies.

The Shirak marz youth who have survived the earthquake displayed keen interest in the law, body and functions of the emergency situations department.

The second issue on the agenda related to RA law “On Youth Sport” presented by Harutiun Yavryan, deputy head of the National Committee on Physical Education and Sports adjunct to the RA Government. The adoption of the law is conditioned by the necessity to develop youth sport, importance for the state to create necessary conditions for children and teenagers to receive physical education and adopt healthy lifestyle, the deputy head assessed. Mr. Yavryan detailed on the key issues of the sphere, stressed the importance of physical education of disabled children and teenagers, medical insurance and medical oversight of people going in for sports, spoke on sports rules and competition activities, children putting up impressive performances and state support rendered to their coaches, presented principles of the state policy in the sphere.

In consistent with the agenda, the young MPs addressed their questions related to economy, education, agriculture, urban development. etc. to the vice ministers.

The away sitting of the Youth Parliament in Shirak marz and the participation of the Shirak marz youth are a proof to the law-making activities of the marz youth, their vocation to become active citizens participating in economic, political life of the state, NA Committee Chairman Hranush Hakobyan assessed.
