On October 31 the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan received the members of European Conservatives and Reformists of the European Parliament Charles Tannock and Richard Charnetsky.
Welcoming the guests the NA President highlighted their visit to Armenia and noted that it would promote the deepening of cooperation with the European Parliament. The Head of the Parliament has noted that Armenia is committed to European values and principles and is resolute to enlarge and deepen the process of institutional reforms. The NA President also emphasized the deepening of reforms in the spheres of economy, effective administration, democracy and human rights, rule of law and public life and other spheres. Hovik Abrahamyan deemed important the political dialogue going on within the framework of parliamentary cooperation. To his assessment, Armenia also actively takes part in the works of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in multilateral dimension of the Eastern Partnership.
He congratulated Charles Tannock on the occasion of being granted the title of Honourable Doctor by Yerevan State University.
The member of the European Conservatives and Reformists of the European Parliament Charles Tannock considered important the deepening of Armenia-European Union cooperation, deeming necessary in this context the deepening of inter-party cooperation. He highly assessed Armenia’s aspiration of adhering to European values. He expressed readiness to support every initiative of Armenia which would be aimed to the enlargement of cooperation with the European structures. Touching upon Armenia’s intention of joining the Customs Union Mr Tannock has noted that they respect Armenia’s decision.
In the course of the meeting regional problems were discussed, both sides highlighted the peaceful settlement of the conflicts, the stability and security of the region.
