NA Council Convenes Extraordinary Sitting

On August 18, the extraordinary sitting of the RA NA Council presided over by the Head of the legislative body Alen Simonyan was held.

The NA draft decision on Making Amendments and Addenda to the supplement approved by N 044-L decision on Approving the Order for the Journalists’ Accreditation in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia of December 27, 2017 of the RA National Assembly Council authored by the NA Speaker Alen Simonyan and the deputy Sisak Gabrielyan was debated.

According to Sisak Gabrielyan, the amendments are aimed at regulating the journalist’s activity in parliament and implementing the coverage of the NA works at decent level.

As a result of amendments, the journalists will carry out their professional activity in special places separated in the residence of the National Assembly, in the foyer in front of the Session Hall, in the box and in the National Assembly Park. The latter can carry out their professional activities in the offices of the National Assembly deputies only by the deputies’ consent.

Sisak Gabrielyan has noted that some amendments are of technical nature.

The draft law proposed to replace daily the 2000 visits up to 5000 set for the internet media, but the Head of Parliament proposed to leave unchanged that paragraph, and the members of the Council agreed.

The decision was adopted with 13 for and 4 against.

The debate of the item of setting the schedule of the convocation of the regular sittings of the Standing Committees of the eighth convocation of the National Assembly was postponed.
