Working Deliberation at RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations

On February 5, the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations initiated a working discussion, where heads of the NA Friendship Groups attended.

Taking into consideration the constitutional reforms made in the country and the process of turning into parliamentary system a package of proposals of raising the efficiency of the activity of the RA NA Friendship Groups. Steps have been taken by the draft law which can help the heads of the Friendship Groups in terms of organizing the works and act more expediently in parliamentary diplomacy. The following principles were laid in the basis of the draft law: participation, being initiative, partnership ties, permanent current work, accountability, systemization, personal responsibility, continuity and consistency.

Noting that it is necessary to give new impetus to the Friendship Groups stemming from the peculiarities of the countries in the conditions of the new geopolitical realities, the Committee Chairman Armen Ashotyan has underlined that 59 Friendship Groups functioning in the parliament have a unique role in expansion and deepening of the parliamentary diplomacy.

The MPs raised questions on the financial means allocated to the Friendship Groups, highlighted similar discussions. Armen Ashotyan proposed his colleagues to present recommendations in written form within 10 days.
