Armen Ashotyan: Due to Diaspora Armenia is More Modern, Competitive and Influential State

On January 22, the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations jointly with the RA Ministry of Diaspora organized working consultation on the theme the RA-Diaspora Partnership Developments which presided over the Chairman of the Committee Armen Ashotyan.

In opening remarks Armen Ashotyan has underlined that it is for the first time the Committee holds discussions in such format, expressing hope that such discussions will reveal new mechanisms in the activation of the ties with the Diaspora both relating to the publicization and more effective use of the political platform.

The key speaker, the RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan in detail presented the phases of the development of the Armenian Diaspora, the state policy being pursued in this direction, the programmes and initiatives being implemented within the framework of the state budget.

The RA NA deputies addressed questions to the Minister which mainly related to the investments, the cooperation between the RA National Friendship Groups and the Ministry of Diaspora.

Summing up the working discussion, the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Armen Ashotyan has noted that the work being done with the Diaspora is one of the prior directions. In this context the Committee Chairman has underscored that we shall expect more expedient and qualitative efforts from the structures of the Diaspora, particularly regarding the Artsakh problem settlement. Armen Ashotyan has added that due to Diaspora Armenia is more modern, competitive and influential state.

The Committee Chairman has assured that the problem of repatriation will also be at the centre of the Committee’s attention.
