RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Debates Problems on Transport, Communication and Information Technologies

On November 7, the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs organized working debate on the problems of policy of the RA Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies. The members of the Committee, the representatives of the Ministry, the NGOs and the ASUE lecturers took part in the debate.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Khosrov Harutyunyan has noted that the goal of the debate is to specify the directions and standards of the works being done. At the sitting issues concerning the situation of the roads of inter-state and inter-regional significance, North-South highway and other issues.

The RA Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan in detail presented the programmes envisaged for 2015-2025, as well as the directions of the implementation of the upcoming 5-year and mid-term events.

With regard to the North-South Road Corridor Investment Program the Minister has noted that after its construction it would be included in the Trans European Transport Network, which documents that this road corresponds with the European standards.

The participants of the debate also touched upon the issues of the importance of Iran-Armenia railway and the strategic importance of Armenia’s airway.

At the end of the debate Vahan Martirosyan informed that it is envisaged to have Zvartnots Logistic Center by private financing by the end of the year.
