Delegation Led by Ara Babloyan is in Georgia on an Official Visit

On September 25, the official visit of the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan began. The Delegation led by the Head of the RA Parliament, comprised of the RA NA deputies Armen Ashotyan, Armen Rustamyan, Vardevan Grigoryan and Lena Nazaryan, met with the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze.

During the meeting thanking his colleague for the warm reception, the RA NA Speaker noted that the official visit of the delegation of the Armenian Parliament to Georgia would be a serious impetus for the further strengthening of the inter-state relations between the two countries, and especially, the inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Ara Babloyan, particularly underlined that from the first days of the restoration of the independence the Armenian authorities attached great importance to the development and expansion of cooperation with Georgia. In his word, the Head of the RA Parliament noted: “In the relations between each other we have been guided with one true principle: there are no non solved problems between us.” He expressed hope that in future the effective cooperation would also continue, new ways would be found for the rapprochement of various contacts, using at maximum the existing whole potential. Ara Babloyan proposed his Georgian colleague to make more frequent the parliamentarians of the two countries in the format of mutual visits and joint discussions.

Talking about the Georgian-Armenian relations, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament particularly has noticed that though this year the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries is marked, however the Georgian-Armenian friendship has a history of several centuries. Irakli Kobakhidze has assured that all parliamentary forces of Georgia has the same position about the fact that the relations with the Republic of Armenia should be brotherly and steps would be undertaken in further strengthening them. The Head of the Georgian Parliament presented in detail to his Armenian colleagues the main directions of the reforms going on in their country.

The sides discussed issues relating to the economic, social, cultural, educational and other spheres.

After the meeting the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Ara Babloyan and the Delegation of the Parliament visited the Square of the Deceased Heroes for the Territorial Integrity of Georgia.
