RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan Receives U.S. Ambassador to Armenia

On July 20, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia Richard Mills.

Welcoming the Ambassador in the National Assembly, Ara Babloyan expressed hope that similar meetings will be continuous. The Head of the parliament has underlined that the United States of America is Armenia’s friendly country and one of the important partners and occupies a key place in the political and economic life of our country.

Highlighting the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in the bilateral relations, the RA NA Speaker considered necessary the parliamentarians’ mutual visits and strengthening of ties.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Ara Babloyan emphasized the continuous efforts of the U.S., as an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair country, aimed at the peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and ensuring peace and stability in the region.

The RA NA Speaker documented: “Every time, when we have victims I feel pain. Everybody’s life is of high value for me, and no matter on what side those young men die.”

Thanking the NA Speaker for the warm reception in his turn Richard Mills highly assessed the humane position of the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan. The Ambassador has assured that the U.S. new administration continues remaining adherent to the commitment of taking part in the Minsk Group process.

“On the parliamentary platform pluralism is of key importance in holding disputes reflecting Armenia’s hopes and dreams, concerns and challenges. We are ready to support your and your partners’ efforts in the increase of trust towards state institutions in the fight against corruption and in the strengthening of bilateral ties between our two big nations,” Richard Mills said in his word.

The interlocutors documented with satisfaction that the Armenian-American cooperation developed in different spheres during these years.

At the meeting the sides referred to the system of parliamentary government, and the steps being taken in the development of democracy and fight against corruption.
