On July 17, the RA NA Deputy Speaker met with the teachers participating in the Diaspora Summer School programme being jointly implemented with Yerevan State University by the RA Ministry of Diaspora. The RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan also attended the meeting.

The RA Minister of Diaspora presented the goal of the Summer School and the directions of the courses.

By Eduard Sharmazanov’s proposal the attendees in one-minute silence honoured the memory of the policemen, who died as a consequence the seizure of the Patrol Sentry Post Service (PSPS) battalion of the RA Police by the members of Sasna Tsrer /Daredevils of Sasun Armed Grouping during these days of the previous year.

Afterwards in the welcoming speech the RA NA Deputy Speaker highly assessed the teachers’ activities aimed at the preservation of Armenian identity in the Armenian communities of the Diaspora.

Touching upon the proposal of giving the Russian status of state language in Armenia during the meeting of the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan and the Speaker of the RF FA State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the RA NA Deputy Speaker has underlined that the only state language is Armenian in the Republic of Armenia, which is a constitutional norm.

In the Q & A format the pedagogues raised numerous questions, which related to the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh/NK (Artsakh) problem, the strategic programmes directed to emigration preventing, creation of jobs and boosting repatriation, the participation of Diaspora in the political processes, etc. Eduard Sharmazanov gave exhaustive answers to all questions.

Eduard Sharmazanov has expressed conviction the problem of Artsakh issue in the Diaspora is preservation of Armenian identity, and the pro-Armenian solution of Artsakh issue in Armenia. The RA NA Deputy Speaker urged the Diaspora pedagogues to make Artsakh cognitive with their daily activities.

Speaking about the NK problem settlement, Eduard Sharmazanov underscored: “Armenia is propagator of the peaceful settlement of the problem, but never through one-sided concessions. The victory of Artsakh is the Armenian people’s collective victory.”

The RA NA Deputy Speaker urged the attendees to be united, documenting that the Armenian people’s success pledge is the unity.

In the course of the meeting Mr Sharmazanov also briefly presented the functions of the RA National Assembly, the disposition of the political forces in the parliament, the transition onto the system of parliamentary government after the Constitutional reforms.
