On June 27, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Chung Sye-kyun in Seoul.

In his word the RA NA Speaker noted: “The Republic of Korea is one of the important counterparts of Armenia in the Eastern Asian region. This year we celebrate the 25^th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Armenia and Korea. I am glad to note that during the previous 25 years the development of the Armenian-Korean inter-state ties has passed in the friendly atmosphere, creating firm bases for developing mutually beneficial cooperation.”

Highlighting the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in enriching the agenda of the Armenian-Korean inter-state relations, Ara Babloyan expressed hope that in the future the Parliamentary Friendship Groups will develop more active cooperation, promoting the expansion of the relations between the parliaments of the two countries.

The RA NA Speaker highly assessed the efficiency of the programme implemented in Armenia by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and expressed hope that the cooperation with KOICA will be continuous.

According to Ara Babloyan, the opening of the Resident Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Yerevan can have an important role in strengthening of Armenia-Korea bilateral relations.

Welcoming the RA NA Speaker’s visit to Korea, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Chung Sye-kyun emphasized the cooperation developed since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Korea and Armenia. Chung Sye-kyun touched upon the relations existing between the parliaments of the two countries and the activities of the Friendship Groups, expressing hope that the Group formed in the newly elected parliament will also cooperate with the Korean colleagues, promoting the development and deepening of cooperation in the cultural, educational and economic spheres.

Highlighting the role of the mutual visits in strengthening of the inter-parliamentary relations the RA NA Speaker invited Chung Sye-kyun to Armenia.
