On June 7, the RA NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Armenia Timur Urazayev.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the situation in the region, highlighting the stability and peace in the countries of the region.

Positively assessing the Armenian-Kazakh current relations, the RA NA Vice President emphasized the further development of the inter-parliamentary relations and the role of the Friendship Groups in that issue. In this context Mr Sharmazanov has noted that Armenia-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship Group will be formed in the parliament of the sixth convocation in the near future and assured that it will be of key importance in the further development of the Armenian-Kazakh parliamentary cooperation.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker talked about the NK conflict settlement and underlined that both Armenia and Artsakh see the settlement of the problem exclusively through peaceful negotiations.

“However, without reasonable compromises it is not possible to reach the solution of the problem, meanwhile until now Azerbaijan is not ready for those compromises,” Eduard Sharmazanov underscored.

In the context of the regional security Mr Sharmazanov referred to the problem of closing the border with Armenia by Turkey and considered inadmissible having closed borders in the 21^st century. To his conviction, that is a serious threat for the region.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker attached importance to the cooperation in the international structures, as well as in the IPA CIS and in the CSTO PA, characterizing the work of the parliamentary delegations of the two countries constructive. To his conviction, the membership to the EEU creates new opportunities of development of the economic ties of the two countries.

The Ambassador highly assessed the parliamentarians’ contribution to the process of the development of the inter-state relations. He also spotlighted the close cooperation of the delegations over the issues of bilateral interest on the inter-parliamentary platforms.

Mr Urazayev once again has reaffirmed that Kazakhstan, being propagator for the peaceful settlement of the NK problem, supports the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Talking about the parliamentary elections held in our country in April, Timur Urazayev noted that the observers that had come from Kazakhstan highly assessed the elections held in Armenia.

Issues concerning the activities of the Armenian community in Kazakhstan were also discussed. The Ambassador has assured that the Armenians are actively involved in the public and political life of Kazakhstan.
