The work of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of CIS (IPA CIS) continued in Saint Petersburg.

On March 28, the joint Forum by the IPA CIS and OSCE PA was held with the heading Fight against International Terrorism , where the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of the NA Delegation Hermine Naghdalyan, the NA deputies Hayk Babukhanyan, Tatshat Vardapetyan, Rubik Hakobyan, Hovhannes Sahakyan and Lyudmila Sargsyan took part.

The IPA CIS Chairperson Valentina Matvienko and the OSCE PA President Christine Muttonen chaired the Forum.

Representatives of the legislative and executive authorities of the CIS, PACE and OSCE participant states, international organizations, scientists and experts, who had arrived from different countries, attended the Forum.

At the Plenary Session the Co-Chairs delivered speeches, and the CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev, PACE President Pedro Agramunt, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean Pedro Roque, the Chairman of the Committee on PACE Political Affairs and Democracy Jensen Mogens and representatives of other international organizations gave speeches. The RA NA deputy Hayk Babukhanyan also took the floor.

The participants highlighted the use of the united efforts aimed at the fight against terrorism and the improvement of appropriate legal field. The Co-Chairs called on to apply the inter-parliamentary possibilities, as well as conduct constructive cooperation for peace. According to the speakers, the parliamentarians should resolutely and uncompromisingly condemn all terrorist actions, underlining the importance of respect towards the human rights and rule of law.

The Forum adopted a document, where it is noted particularly: “We are resolutely intended to unite our efforts in the fight against inhuman terrorists and criminal activities not recognizing borders.

It is possible to win in the fight against terrorism, based only on our principles, the ground of which are the preservation of peace, freedom, equality, justice, and the respect towards the citizens’ fundamental rights, and what is designed by international obligations.”

Within the works of the Spring Session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of the NA Delegation Hermine Naghdalyan had bilateral meetings, including the members of the South Korean Parliamentary Delegation, as well as the Chairperson of the RF FA Federal Council Valentina Matvienko. During the meetings issues regarding the relations of the parliaments, the expansion of cooperation on the international platforms, as well as within the IPA CIS framework, were discussed.
