NA Speaker Receives President of Pushkin Russian Language State Institute

On March 21, the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received the President of Pushkin Russian Language State Institute of the Russian Federation Margarita Rusetskaya.

Welcoming Mrs Rusetskaya in the RA National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan underlined the role of the Armenian-Russian centuries-old friendship in terms of inter-cultural and educational cooperation. The NA Speaker documented: “Powerful is the state, where the educational level is high, and all conditions are created for the development of education.”

Touching upon the steps taken towards the rise of the educational level in our country, Galust Sahakyan has noted that every year the Armenian graduates successfully enter the top ten higher educational institutions of the world, as well as the ones in Russia. That is the vivid evidence of the educational progress.

As Chairman of Kh. Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Council, the NA Speaker highly assessed the role of the University in preparation of pedagogues and opined that the ASPU could genuinely be recognized as one of the best educational institutions in the region.

Galust Sahakyan expressed confidence that the cooperation between the Kh. Abovyan State Pedagogical University and Pushkin State Russian Language Institute would continue, promoting the improvement of skills of the Armenian specialists. The NA Speaker has noted that he always keeps changes in the education sector in the centre of his attention, as well as he has expressed his willingness to support the implementation of educational programmes and initiatives.

Margarita Rusetskaya thanked the NA Speaker for the reception and presented the activity of the 50-year history of the Institute, the further programmes and the initiatives related to Armenia.

Mrs Rusetskaya highlighted the cooperation with the ASPU, underlining that there is a lot to be done related to training of the Armenian pedagogues, the exchange of programmes of students and lecturers. Margarita Rusetskaya touched upon the “Ambassadors of Russia" project which was launched two years ago and was also implemented in Armenia and expressed hope that it will be continuous.

The President of Pushkin State Russian Language Institute has noted that students from about 190 countries around the world, including Armenia, study in the Institute, many of them study by correspondence.

Mrs Rusetskaya has stated that, as always, today the interest towards the Russian language in Armenia is great, and it is time to take certain steps towards opening an educational centre for Russian language specialists, which will make educational programmes, textbooks, and training will also be more accessible for the Armenian specialists.
