RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan Receives Delegation of Bulgaria

On February 18, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan received the Delegation led by the Member of the Bulgarian Parliament, the Chairman of the Patriotic Front Valeri Simeonov.

Welcoming the Bulgarian deputies’ visit to Armenia, the RA NA Deputy Speaker has underlined that Armenia and Bulgaria are brotherly countries, have historical-cultural close ties and commonalities. Mrs Naghdalyan touched upon the current level of the relations between the two countries and highlighted particularly the further deepening and development on the parliamentary platform.

Mrs Naghdalyan presented in detail to the guests the phases of the Nagorno Karabakh (NK) conflict settlement process, the steps taken and in this issue Azerbaijan’s bellicose policy. She has underscored that the NK people want to live in a free and independent country and has added that the Nagorno Karabakh is a state of developing and democratic values. The NA Deputy Speaker also talked about the April four-day war and presented details.

In the course of the meeting the NA Deputy Speaker referred to the problem of the Armenian Genocide recognition. Hermine Naghdalyan thanked the Bulgarian Parliament and especially Valeri Simeonov for the efforts made in this issue. Mrs Naghdalyan stressed that the progressive mankind should fight and take steps in order similar tragedies will never be repeated in the world.

Valeri Simeonov, in his turn, underlined that in different historical times the Armenian and Bulgarian peoples were friends. Talking about the NK problem Mr Simeonov has noted that they understand the essence of the problem, and they are ready to be useful for the brotherly Armenian people within the bounds of possibility.

Valeri Simeonov also informed that the delegation led by him is going to visit Artsakh, which is already his second visit to Nagorno Karabakh Republic: if compared with the previous one, more broadened group of delegates will be there. On that occasion the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan expressed her gratitude on behalf of our country and personally her, highlighting the visit exactly, when Constitutional referendum is held in Nagorno Karabakh Republic, observing it as an important mission, which testifies to the resoluteness of their country aimed at the preservation of democratic values, especially in the background of the Belarusian-Azerbaijani recent events.

The sides emphasized the deepening of cooperation on different parliamentary platforms and supporting each other in the issues of mutual interest.

Other issues were also discussed.
