On December 7, the RA National Assembly continued the work of the four-day sittings.

Before starting the legislative work the deputies by the proposal of the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan in one-minute silence standing paid tribute to the memory of December 7, 1988 Spitak disastrous earthquake victims.

The MPs welcomed the lecturers and students of Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University, who had visited the parliament within the framework of the NA Open Doors programme.

The RA First Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Vache Terteryan submitted to the parliament in the first reading the legislative package on Amending the RA law on Local Self-Government, on Amending the RA law on Local Referendum, on Amending the RA law on the RA Budgetary System and on Amending the RA law on Public Service.

Vache Terteryan also answered the deputies’ questions relating to the problems of the sphere and gave clarifications.

The Chair of the Head Committee Stepan Margaryan presented the endorsement of the Committee. He has informed that the Committee envisages organizing parliamentary hearings on the legislative initiative to debate the disputable items on the package.

The NA deputies Khosrov Harutyunyan, Edmon Marukyan and Mikayel Melkumyan delivered speeches on the package.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov delivered an extraordinary speech. He considered necessary to develop the decentralization and the local self-government bodies.

The debate of the issue will continue at December 8 NA sitting.

In accordance with the law the NA Rules of Procedure, at the last sitting the members of the RA Government answered the deputies’ questions.
