Galust Sahakyan Receives Delegation Led by Chairperson of RF FA Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs Council

On November 18, the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received the Delegation led by the Chairperson of the RF FA Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachyov.

Welcoming the guests, the NA Speaker expressed hope that their working visit will be one more stimulus for further strengthening of the inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Head of the parliament has underlined that the current mutually beneficial cooperation, but also the two peoples’ centuries-old friendship and the spiritual closeness lies on the basis of the allied strategic partnership between Armenia and Russia. In this context Galust Sahakyan has documented that the Armenian-Russian relations are at high level and continue to develop in the atmosphere of mutual trust, the evidence of it are the frequent mutual visits of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries.

As the most important component of the inter-state relations, the RA NA Speaker has highlighted the development of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, and the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee between the RA National Assembly and the RF Federal Assembly greatly promote it.

In the context of the allied and strategic relations of Armenia and Russia Mr Sahakyan has underlined the importance of cooperation in the international parliamentary structures.

“I am sure that in the issues of key importance for our states, during the debates and voting we should have coordinated and mutually beneficial approaches,” the Head of the Parliament noted.

The RA NA Speaker expressed hope that the debates of the joint sitting to be held on November 19 of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and the RF FA Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs will be effective.

Konstantin Kosachyov also emphasized the Armenian and Russian peoples’ allied relations, which are firmly based on friendship. He touched upon the coordinated work of the two countries’ delegations on the international parliamentary platforms and attached importance to mutual support in a number of issues. By Mr Kosachyov’s conviction, the meetings of the two countries’ delegations in different formats should be made more frequent.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
