On November 16, the Head of the RA NA RPA Faction Vahram Baghdasaryan, members of the NA Armenia-Sweden Friendship Group Naira Karapetyan, Tatshat Vardapetyan and Hrant Grigoryan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Armenia Martina Quick, Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Sweden Margarita Christiansen.

At the meeting a number of issues of bilateral interest were discussed: particularly, at the Ambassador’s request the Head of the RPA Faction Vahram Baghdasaryan presented the provisions of principle of the new RA Electoral  Code adopted as a result of Constitutional reforms and the peculiarities of the parliamentary government system. He also touched upon the steps taken for the rise of the public trust towards the electoral processes. Vahram Baghdasaryan underlined the authorities’ political will to hold fair and transparent elections according to democratic standards. The Head of faction also informed that the RA Law on Parties is also at the phase of reforming. Both sides emphasized the presence of the Observation missions in the electoral processes.

Ambassador Martina Quick was also interested in the developments of the Karabakh conflict settlement and in that issue, the Armenian side’s position. In response to that Vahram Baghdasaryan has noted that today Armenia expects the settlement of the problem exclusively in peaceful and negotiation process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. The Ambassador Quick has stated that her country also expects the settlement of the problem as a result of the OSCE Minsk Group’s activities.

At the meeting the sides referred to the April four-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan, the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the RA-European Union partnership, the Armenian-Swedish relations, including also the necessity of the inter-parliamentary cooperation rapprochement. In this context the Ambassador has informed that in the coming February the Parliamentary Delegation of Sweden will visit Armenia. An agreement was reached to continue the meetings and discuss issues concerning the Armenian-Swedish relations.
