On November 9-11, the Delegation led by the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the RA National Assembly Artak Zakaryan, included the Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Alexander Arzumanyan, the Deputy Chairs of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Mikayel Melkumyan, the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Aghvan Vardanyan and the RA First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Garegin Melkonyan, was in Berlin.

During the visit the delegation had meetings with the Vice President of the Bundestag of Germany Edelgard Bulmahn, the MPs, the Special Representative of the FRG Government Coordinator for Intersocietal Cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the Eastern Partnership Countries Gernot Erler, and the German Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia of Andreas Peschke. There were also meetings in the FRG Ministry of Economic Development Cooperation and the German Central and Eastern European Business Association and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung/Foundation.

The members of the Delegation presented Armenia’s foreign political priorities, touched upon the regional security issues, Armenia-European Union relations, the efforts being taken by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in advancing the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process.

Agreements were reached to continue the cooperation, in the parliamentary format, as well as on activating the business contacts and organizing joint business forums.

Issues regarding holding a Business Forum with the participation of the representatives of the medium entrepreneurship in future were discussed. The Armenian Delegation presented in detail the works aimed at Armenia’s involvement within the EEC, the legal and economic opportunities, as well as the continuous improvement of the business environment in the RA.

The parties discussed a number of problems of regional importance and issues relating to the necessity of the sustainable development.

The visit of the Delegation to Germany was organized with the support of the German Friedrich Ebert Stiftung/Foundation and the RA Embassy.
