On September 22, the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan received the Delegation led by the Member of the Senate of the Republic of France Luc Carvounas .

Welcoming the guest in the National assembly, Galust Sahakyan emphasized their visit to Armenia on the 25^th anniversary of our country’s Independence . 

The Head of the Parliament expressed gratitude to friendly France for the permanent support in Armenia ’s vital issues.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Galust Sahakyan highlighted the delegation’s visit to Arstakh. In this context the NA Speaker highly appreciated the French parliamentarians’ condemning response to the large-scale military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan in April.

The Head of the Parliament, condemning the severe terrorist acts in Paris and Nice and other places before, assured that Armenia is always next to friendly France .

Considering undeniable France ’s contribution to the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, Galust Sahakyan mentioned that the law on recognition of the Armenian Genocide adopted in 2001 will become perfect together with the law on defining responsibility on the denial of the Genocide. The NA Speaker expressed hope that the French parliament will be consistent in submitting and adopting the new bill, taking into consideration French President Francois Hollande's commitment.

The Head of the Parliament expressed confidence that Luc Carvounas will continue efforts for the further strengthening and expanding the cooperation between Armenia and France .

Member of the Senate of French Republic Luc Carvounas, expressing gratitude for the warm reception, congratulated on the 25^th Anniversary of the Republic of Armenia . He conveyed French National Assembly Speaker Claude Bartolone’s and Head of the France-Armenia friendship group Bruno Le Roux’s warm greetings to Galust Sahakyan.

Luc Carvounas, touching upon April events of this year, also highlighted their visit to Artsakh and meetings with NKR President and National Assembly Speaker. He has noted that during their meetings they conveyed France ’s solidarity with the NK people on the events occurred as a result of Azerbaijan ’s violation of the ceasefire regime.  Luc Carvounas mentioned that he had done his best to present the 4-day April war precisely to the French Government.

Touching upon the recognition of the Armenian Genocide the French Parliamentarian stated that they do everything to adopt the law completing the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and criminalizing the denial.

Other issues of mutual interest were touched upon at the meeting.
