On September 5, the delegation on an official visit to Argentina, led by the RA National Assembly Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov and comprised of the NA MPs Sukias Avetisyan and Mikayel Manukyan, met with Secretary for Human Rights   and Cultural Diversity of Argentina Claudio Avrukh.

The interlocutors highlighted the creation of strong ties in mutual relations and their intensification. The parties registered that the whole potential should be used for achieving significant results.

The NA Deputy Speaker presented Claudio Avrukh the situation in the South Caucuses emphasizing that Armenia is the apologist of stability and peace in the region.

Eduard Sharmazanov mentioned that Turkey not only continues its policy of denial of the Armenian Genocide, but also keeps Armenia in illegal blockade for around two decades.

“Only our joint struggle against Turkish denial can prevent perpetration of new genocides. The international recognition of the Armenian Genocide is nothing more than a struggle for the sake of the protection of all-human values”, the NA Deputy Speaker emphasized.

The Head of the Armenian delegation also touched upon the NK conflict, stating that Artsakh’s independence is an established fact. He noted that on the contrary to Azerbaijani Khanate they build a democratic country in Artsakh. Eduard Sharmazanov documented that Turkey and Azerbaijan are the main threats of the region. 

At the end of the meeting, the NA Deputy Speaker spoke also about the policy of hatred towards the Armenians by Azerbaijan , stating that the manifestation of hatred towards the Armenians are abundant in that country. Eduard Sharmazanov condemned also the policy of cultural genocide by Azebaijan, the vivid example of which, according to him, was the destruction of Jugha cemetery full of ten thousands of unique cross-stones /khachkar/ in Nakhichevan which used to be inhabited by the Armenians and now depopulated of them.
