Galust Sahakyan Receives Members of Japan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship League

On August 30, the RA National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan received Seishiro Eto, Chairman of the Japan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship League within the National Diet of Japan, and its members.

Welcoming the guests in the Armenian parliament, Galust Sahakyan highly appreciated the Armenian-Japanese relations, noting that they are based on friendship and mutual trust.

According to the Head of the Parliament, interparliamentary format occupies an important place on the Armenian-Japanese bilateral relations. In this context the Speaker of the National Assembly expressed confidence that the interparliamentary cooperation is an important means for strengthening bilateral interstate relations and provision of mutual trust. Galust Sahakyan emphasized with satisfaction that the friendship groups of the two country’s parliaments have promoted further development of the Armenian-Japanese interparliamentary relations in the last years due to their work.  

The NA Speaker, referring to the 4-day war in April, mentioned that Azerbaijan had gravely violated the ceasefire agreement with large-scale operations on those days which inflicted many casualties. Armenia is determined to settle the conflict through peaceful means with a decision to fulfill Karabakh people’s just right to self-determination. “, - underscored Galust Sahakyan.    

The guests also highlighted the contacts and mutual visits between the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups which promote deepening of the relations and cooperation. Talking about the 4-day war, the Chairman of Japan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship League Seishiro Eto expressed his sympathy with the victims’ relatives, and wished recovery to the injured. Seishiro Eto mentioned that Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be settled through peaceful means within the format of OSCE Minsk Group, which has a great role for the regional peace.  

At the end of the meeting Seishiro Eto conveyed the invitation of the Speaker  of the  House of Representatives   of  Japan Oshima for visiting Japan to the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan.
