On July 6, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtayn received the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International and Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi and the Counselor on Special Assignments of the RF Embassy Oleg Shapovalov.

Artak Davtyan welcomed Mikhail Shvydkoi’s visit to Armenia and highlighted the steps directed to the rapprochement of the cultural ties between the two countries.

Both sides highlighted the strengthening and preservation of the cultural ties in further intensifying the centuries-old friendship existing between the two countries, as well as the activation of cultural figures and figures in the sphere of education and the implementation of the cultural events.

The interlocutors touched upon the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, emphasizing the strengthening of the inter-parliamentary ties.

Mikhail Shvydkoi highly assessed the contribution of the Armenians living in Russia in the spheres of business, construction and high technologies.

Issues concerning the upcoming parliamentary elections in Russia and Armenia and the Amendments to the RA Electoral Code were also discussed.
