On June 28, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Elinar Vardanyan met with the representatives at the OSCE Supreme Commissioner on National Minorities Andrei Khanzhin and Marc Fumagalli.
At the guests’ request Mrs Vardanyan touched upon the problems of the national minorities in our country, noting that in Armenia they have the same problems which the RA citizens have. The Committee Chair has stated that the representatives of the national minorities carry out activities in Armenia’s public and political life. She has also referred to the definition of the quota for the national minorities by the Electoral Code and presented details about the amendments designed by the new Code.
In the course of the meeting the sides talked about some problems conditioned by the national traditions, particularly the national minorities’ educational problems, the teaching of their mother tongues, etc.
