On April 23, within the framework of the Second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide the RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan met with Nadia Murad Basee Taha, a Yazidi rights activist. Let us note that the Yazidi woman was kidnapped by ISIS along with thousands of other girls and women, when the predominantly Yazidi city of Shingal fell to ISIS in August 2014. Nadia Murad Basee Taha presented to the RA NA Deputy Speaker her and her people’s tragic story. She has traveled around the world to shed light on ISIS atrocities against the Yazidi religious minority.
Hermine Naghdalyan expressed her condolence to the Yazidi people for their experienced tragedy. The RA NA Deputy Speaker has noted that, as hundred years ago the world accepted the Armenian migrants, who survived the Genocide, today Armenia accepts the Yazidis. Mrs Naghdalyan also has documented that not only in the RA National Assembly, but also in the international platforms the Armenian parliamentarians always voice about the violent acts committed in the northern part of Iraq towards the Yazidi people.
Touching upon the participation of the representatives of the nations and states in the Global Forum, the RA NA Deputy Speaker highlighted the united struggle of all nations against genocides and terrorism.
At the guest’s request, talking about the Yazidi community in Armenia Mrs Naghdalyan has noted that the Yazidis are protected and safe in our country, and they take part in the inner life of the country.
The participants of the meeting unanimously noted that in the whole world we should undertake steps, so the tragedies occurred to the people will not be repeated.
At the end of the meeting Hermine Naghdalyan wished patience, vehemence and peace.
