On April 22, the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan received the Head of Bulgaria-Armenia Friendship Group Atanas Zafirov. The Head of Armenia-Bulgaria Friendship Group Manvel Badeyan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to RA Georgi Karastamatov attended the meeting.

In the course of the meeting issues relating to the development of the parliamentary relations of the two countries were discussed. The interlocutors highly assessed the close activities between the Friendship Groups of the two parliaments, as well as highlighted the deepening of the cooperation at different parliamentary platforms.

Talking about the Second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide to be held in Yerevan on April 23, expressed hope that the discussions of this year in their turn can promote the revision of the effective mechanisms of prevention of genocide and the solutions to be implemented.

Touching upon the problem of Nagorno Karabakh the Committee Chairman particularly talked about the situation on the Karabakh-Azerbaijani line of contact at the beginning of April. In this context Atanas Zafirov has noted that they follow the events happening on the Karabakh-Azerbaijani Line of Contact and they are aware of them: the Bulgarian MP has stated the problem should be exclusively solved through peaceful means in the OSCE Minsk Group format.

The interlocutors, talking about the Armenian-Bulgarian relations formed in different spheres, emphasized particularly the development and deepening of trade-economic relations.

In the course of the meeting the sides also referred to a number of issues of mutual interest.
