On April 4, the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs moderated by Koryun Nahapetyan was held. Before passing on to the agenda items, the attendees by Nahapetyan's proposal paid tribute in one-minute silence to the memory of the servicemen and the civilians perished as a consequence of military operations in the Line of Contact of Karabakh-Azerbaijani forces.

The Committee Chairman touched upon the situation created as a consequence of the large-scale military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan during recent years, noting that the sub-units of the Defense Army had successful battles in all directions of the frontline. Condemning Azerbaijan's military aggression, Mr Nahapetyan noted that we should unite the efforts, undertake military-political, legal and diplomatic necessary steps for guaranteeing the Nagorno Karabakh people's security and peace.

Afterwards the MPs debated the issue on submitting a proposal to the National Assembly on the special procedure of consideration of the package of the RA draft laws on Amendments to the RA law on Civil Defense Units, on Amendments to the RA law on Weapon, on Amendment to Civil Defense, on Amendments to the RA Law on Legal Regime of Martial Law, on Amendments to the RA law on Defense, on Amendments to the RA law on Rescue Service and on Amendment to the RA law on Hydrometeorological Activities. The RA Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Haykaram Mkhitaryan proposed the MPs to organize the adoption of the legislative package in the second reading after adopting it in the first reading within 24 hours.

The Committee endorsed the recommendation of the Government.
