On October 6 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan, the Head of the NA Armenia-Germany Friendship Group Artak Davtyan and the member of the Friendship Group Alexander Arzumanyan met with Bundestag deputies of the Federal Republic of Germany Matthias Zimmer, Albert Weiler and Bernhard Matthias Kiesler, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Welcoming the German colleagues’ visit to the National Assembly, Artak Davtyan expressed hope that during the tenure of the newly appointed Ambassador the Armenian-German relations, the inter-parliamentary ties would be more strengthened and the mutual visits would be added.
Touching upon the Armenian-German cooperation, Artak Davtyan has noted that the Armenian young people take part in the German educational programmes.
Artak Davtyan has also assessed the active participation of the politicians of Germany in the events of the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
Thanking Artak Davtyan for the meeting, Bernhard Matthias Kiesler, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany, has stated that the friendly relations have been formed between Armenia and Germany during many years, which are especially close in the sphere of parliamentary cooperation.
He has noted that the RA Constitutional reform is a big problem for the parliament, government and the people and has expressed hope that turning into the parliamentary system will help the RA to create more welfare future.
In the course of the meeting the sides discussed issues concerning the draft constitutional reforms, Armenia’s membership to the EEC, regional security and the development of Armenia-EU relations.
Both sides also discussed other issues of bilateral interest.
