On September 23 the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov received the delegation headed by the Deputy Speaker of Mejlis of Turkmenistan Ms Gurbanguly Bayramova.

Welcoming the guests, The RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov highly appreciated the friendship between the Armenian and Turkmen people, noting that the multilateral relations between the two countries develop dynamically and mutually beneficial. Eduard Sharmazanov considered necessary the further rapprochement between the two parliaments, especially the interaction and mutual visits between friendship groups, experience exchange in various spheres.

The NA Derputy Speaker touched upon the regional problems and expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for the balanced approach to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. He has emphasized once more that Armenia expects the settlement of the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group through peaceful negotiations which can’t be said about neighbouring Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the Armenian-Turkish relations, Eduard Sharmazanov has noted that Armenia is for the opening of borders without preconditions. “The 21st century is the century of opening borders without preconditions, preconditions don’t indicate democracy,” said the NA Deputy Speaker.

Deputy Speaker of Mejlis of Turkmenistan Ms Gurbanguly Bayramova, thanking for the warm reception, has stated in her turn the mutually interesting cooperation between the two countries and has noted that there is a great potential for expanding the relations. She has informed that Turkmenistan studies and applies the Armenian experience in various spheres. Touching upon the regional issues, Ms Bayramova has mentioned Turkemnistan’s neutral position towards the issue and expressed hope that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will be solved through peaceful negotiations.

The interlocutors expressed readiness to further develop the relations between the friendly countries not only in the political sphere, but also commercial-economic, cultural, health, educational and other spheres.
