On September 22 the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan and the Chairperson of the Committee for Foreign Policy of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania László Borbély after the meeting in the parliament had a joint briefing.
Summing up the results of the meeting, Artak Zakaryan has noted that numerous issues have been discussed on the cooperation between the two countries, and particularly the parliaments, recording that it is necessary to expand the already established bilateral relations. Artak Zakaryan has touched upon the issues of cooperation between the two Committees and in different inter-parliamentary organizations.
Artak Zakaryan highly assessed the Romanian President’s address ahead of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, as well as the balanced position of Romania in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem.
The Chairperson of the Committee for Foreign Policy of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania László Borbély did not consider accidental their visit to Armenia on September 21, as Romania is one of the first countries that recognized the independence of the Republic of Armenia.
László Borbély highlighted the cooperation with Armenia specifying the role of the Armenian community in the development of Romania. The Chairperson of the Committee for Foreign Policy has stated that it is important for their country that there is peace in the region, taking into consideration the situation in the world today.
