At the Sitting of the NA Standing Committee

On September 9 the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport convened a sitting moderated by Artak Davtyan on the agenda of which the first three bills related to establishing Students and Youth Day in the RA. The first of them was the draft law “On Amending the RA Law on the RA Holidays and Memorial Days” authored by the NA deputies Vahe Enfiajyan, Naira Zohrabyan, Vahe Hovhannisyan, Elinar Vardanyan, Mikayel Melkumyan, Tigran Urikhanyan, Vahan Babayan.

The key speaker Vahe Enfiajyan has noted that in Armenia Day of Youth is also celebrated on November 17, as it is included in the list of the UN Holidays. The speaker has added that establishing Students and Youth Day in the RA should be observed in the context of the history of the educational system.

The key speaker of the bill “On Amending the RA Law on the RA Holidays and Memorial Days” authored by the NA deputies Heghine Bisharyan, Hovhannes Margaryan, Levon Dokholyan Heghine Bisharyan suggested that May 7 should be celebrated in Armenia as Youth Holiday. In her word, May is considered a month of the Armenian people’s victories, therefore, before the victorious holidays, Youth Day shall be marked on May 7.

The key Speaker of the draft law “On Amending the RA Law on the RA Holidays and Memorial Days” submitted by the RA Government, the RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan noted that the choice of celebrating Students and Youth Day on May 16 is conditioned by the fact that it is the day of foundation of Yerevan State University.

The bill submitted by the Government with the endorsement will be presented on the agenda of the NA four-day sittings.

By the proposal of the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan the endorsed bill will be submitted with the co-authorship during the NA four-day sittings.

The key speaker, the RA Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan presented the legislative package “On Museums and Museum Fund of the Republic of Armenia” and “On Amending the RA Code on Administrative Infringements.”

On October 23 parliamentary hearings will be organized in the NA to debate the issue in detail.

The Chairman of the Council Public TV and Radio Company Ruben Jaghinyan presented the report on the activity of the Public TV and Radio Company for 2014.
