Cross- Stone Eternalizing the Memory of the Armenian Soldiers is Opened in Brest
1 / 7

On July 1 the Delegation led by the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov took part in the solemn opening of the cross-stone eternalizing the memory of the Armenian soldiers, who died for the liberation of the Brest Castle in the Great Patriotic War in the city of Brest.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Guminsky made opening remarks. Let us note that the RA NA deputy Tatshat Vardapetyan and Moscow resident from Javakhk benefactor Andranik Survalyan showed their support in the opening of the cross-stone.

In his speech Eduard Sharmazanov noted: “Armenia as a real propagator of the maintenance and spreading of cultural values, and one of the manifestations of it is also the erection of this cross-stone dedicated to the memory of the Armenian soldiers who liberated the Brest Castle.

Today, opening the monument, we all mourn for those who were deceased in the battlefield.

Dozens of thousands of sons of the Armenian people took part in the liberation from the Hitler yoke.

We condemn all manifestations of terrorism and xenophobia. I would like to mention that we, Armenians, as bearers of the millennia-old cultural heritage, even in the 21st century witness the annihilation of the millennia-old cultural heritage, which call in other way, than cultural genocide, is simply not possible, in fact, not only towards the Armenians, but in general, Christian spiritual values. Its bright evidence is the annihilation of the cemetery with unique cross-stones of Jugha in Nakhijevan being part of Azerbaijan at present.

We should do our best in order the criminal Nazi doctrines with all manifestations remain in the past.

And today, installing this cross-stone, we once again prove that the light wins the darkness, and the kindness is victorious.”
