On June 26 the NA President Galust Sahakyan received Reiner Morell, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia, on the completion of his diplomatic mission.

Galust Sahakyan thanked the Ambassador for the contribution to the Armenian-German relations and wished successes in the further work. The Head of the Parliament highlighted the development of the relations between the two countries in different directions. He highly assessed the political and cultural partnership of the two countries. The NA President deemed remarkable the position of the Republic of Germany in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

Ambassador Reiner Morell thanked the NA President for the effective cooperation. He also emphasized the development of the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries and mutual visits. Touching upon the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, Reiner Morell noted that due to those events Armenia also focused the attention of Germany on it, and people have realized that what happened was Genocide.

In the course of the meeting the interlocutors also highlighted the programmes being implemented jointly and effectively, touched upon the inter-parliamentary platform of international cooperation “Parliaments against Genocides.” In the context of condemnation of genocides the NA President noted that the civilization should be classified above politics.
